Botox, hair removal and fake bust at 8 years old. Behind the scenes of beauty contests for children

In 2009, a new show “Toddlers & Tiaras” (“Kids and Tiaras”) or beauty pageant among children appeared for the first time in the USA. It would seem that what could be more attractive than the natural appearance of cute little girls? But the show’s organizers thought differently.

The little ones were made up for the show, just like they do with the adult contestants. Tons of decorative cosmetics, false nails, eyelashes and hair, self-tanners, too “adult” outfits. Many condemned this approach, as well as the parents who decided to send their little ones to this show not at all for little ones.

However, ambitious mothers were attracted by fame and rich prizes. For this, they were ready for anything. For example, the mother of one of the “little queens” Britney Campbell injected the girl every 3 months with Botox and did hair removal all over her body.

Beauty salons refused to perform such procedures for the cub, and the mother took it upon herself. When guardianship authorities intervened in the case, the ‘caring mother’ was genuinely puzzled, not understanding what she was doing wrong. The story ended with the fact that the woman was deprived of parental rights, and Britney was lucky to have a normal childhood.

However, children’s beauty pageants have not lost their popularity. To this day, hundreds of such events are held each year, and parents continue to spend thousands of dollars on “prep” and costumes for the girls.
