The old barn was used for a very long time as a warehouse for tractors and hay, until the day it was bought by a man who decided to make a home there.
The locals did not like the barn even before the purchase, they considered it too unpretentious. But when a millionaire chose it for lodging, the eccentric man immediately sparked ridicule.
The conversations behind the barn owner’s back continued for 15 years until he invited his neighbors to visit Englishman Alan Yeomans bought an old barn on the outskirts of Derbyshire and decided to build a house there. For his part, he had a plan. He wanted to preserve the historic look of the area, even though it was a barn.
So he insulated the outside of the barn a bit, but using all the same materials that were used to build farm buildings. For part of the facade, he used old stone, giving the building an even more neglected look, according to neighbors . The front face was brighter, but the neighbors did not see it.
Alan dressed, despite his wealth, also in simple clothes, and people around were happy to chat about their eccentric neighbor.
It went on for 15 years, until the man invited people to visit, deciding to have a barbecue. This is where Alan’s plan was revealed when he created his house. Behind the nondescript facade of the barn, the man has created a spacious interior. There wasn’t even a hint of the building’s past.
Original paintings on the walls, gold inlays, antique furniture and new appliances.Part of the house has been converted into a garage. It turned out that Yeomans loved collecting classic cars. There was no trace of mockery on the same day. But the man no longer communicated with his neighbors.
