Like most siblings, brothers Tre and Ke’lynn were inseparable whenever they were together. But unfortunately, the duo had not been living together for years due to trauma. It had been almost 4 years since 10-year-old Tre and 7-year-old Ke’lynn had been placed in Child Protective Custody in Texas.
Authorities hoped that this separation would help them heal from family trauma. The kids spend almost the entire time living in different foster homes and only getting an opportunity to see each other once a month. Each meeting was heartbreaking as at the end of it, they were forced to say goodbye to each other.
“I want to see him every day and I don’t,” said a heartbroken Ke’lynn at the time, as his eyes well-up. Initially, it was about them needing time apart to heal but distance made their heart grow fonder as they longed to be together one day. So when Tre was asked, “You guys are just about all each other has anymore, right? So you want to make sure you’re with him, right?” the elder brother responded, “Yes.”
Finally going home, foster boys surprised in adoption ceremony
The love Tre and Ke’lynn had for each other could only be expressed once a month when they met and they never wanted to let this feeling go. According to WFAA, Tre revealed that his deepest wish was “to live with him (Ke’lynn).” Then a month later, someone came to their rescue after witnessing their story.
“I was crying mostly because it just pulled at my heartstrings, and I felt an instant connection with the boys, and I said I’ve got to figure out a way to get these boys in my home and learn more about them,” shared Dr. Robert Beck, who took in the brothers. Although it was nothing formal, the siblings had no idea what Dr. Beck had in store for them.
